The team you will be a part of The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation. This role in summary The Performance Engineer – Analyst positions will be located on the Cycle Design Team, within the Performance Subsystem team – Laundry. The Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of algorithms, logic, and cycle designs that enable the compliance with global requirements, and integrate seamlessly with the component modules for new and existing laundry products. This engineer will work to develop, integrate, and execute algorithms in conjunction with technology to deliver outstanding performance for washing machines and combo washer-dryers. Your responsibilities will include Wash Systems modules and algorithm development for washing machines Dry Systems modules and algorithm development for combo washer-dryers Optimize appliance performance through module development and parameterization Support the module technology roadmaps, including complexity reduction, attribute requirements, and cost & quality initiatives Understand the critical module parameters that contribute to the system level attribute requirements (functional decomposition) Understanding of physics, with a key focus on mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics that govern the washer and dry systems Support new product design from concept development to execution Support new premium quality program on washing machines and combo washer dryers Develop multiple concepts and utilize Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), design verification plans (DVP), and risk management tools to assist in decision performance attributes Develop new, and improve upon existing, test methodologies and test plans for performance verification and validation Effectively develop and capture knowledge required to deliver module level excellence Support of marketing claims development and validation Minimum requirements B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aeronautical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering 2 years in Appliance / Consumer Goods Industry Experience or relevant Industry. Preferred skills and experiences Masters degree with related experience would be a plus Black Belt/Opex/Six Sigma experience Basic knowledge of Risk Management, and Project Management Ability to apply fundamental physics to design and analyze fluid and thermal systems. Strong sense of accountability and personal commitment.
