REMOTE Model-Based Definition Senior Designer Job Number: 341459 Category: -Software & Systems SBU Description: A REMOTE Model Based Definition Senior Designer job is currently available at Belcan. This is a full-time direct position with benefits, working from anywhere in the U.S. To be considered, you will need 2 years of Model-Based Definition (MBD) application experience in any CAD platform, or 5 years design modeling experience using Siemens NX CAD platform. As an MBD Senior Designer, you will assist in establishing standard practices for Belcan’s Digital Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) and/or execute tactical tasks as part of customer-aligned digital engineering delivery teams. Key Responsibilities: Work will be performed remotely. Some travel to customer sites or internal meetings may be required (up to 25%). Assist in establishing standard practices for Belcan’s Digital Engineering COE and/or execute tactical tasks as part of customer-aligned digital engineering delivery teams. Complete the following responsibilities as they relate to authoring MBD to comply with industry standards, maximize downstream digital interoperability and enable automated consumption: o Engage with vendors in the evaluation, development, debugging, and evolution of MBD authoring and validation software and maintain awareness of emerging engineering and consumption lifecycle software and technologies o Participate in CAD user groups to stay connected with industry trends in the CAD domain (i.e. PTC User Group, NX User Groups) o Participate in industry standards development organizations o Baseline and document customer current-state MBD authoring and validation standards and participate in customer short-, middle-, and long-term future state development and maturity planning o Advise on the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) o Advise on modernizing 2D drawings approaches for MBD o Author MBD data sets for use in exploratory workflows o Participate in pilots to collect feedback and develop solutions for definition approaches, manufacturing and inspection data re-use, machine and software interoperability, and other efforts o Assist in testing and documenting best practices for authoring MBD data elements for all facets of MBD implementation, including geometry, annotations, metadata and attributes, product characteristics, view states, arrangements, and more o Develop formal specifications for internal and customer usage o Develop and deliver internal and customer-facing presentations o Plan, develop and provide guided training and mentorship of MBD authoring, validation, and usage Required Qualifications: US Citizenship Associates Degree in a mechanical design or engineering discipline. 2 years of Model-Based Definition (MBD) application experience in any CAD platform, or 5 years design modeling experience using Siemens NX CAD platform. 5 years of experience as a subject matter expert (SME) in any of the following areas: CAD modeling and product definition, interoperability of engineering data, engineering, manufacturing, quality/metrology, or supply-chain. Experience/knowledge of industry standards ASME Y14.5-2009 or newer, ASME Y14.41-2012 or newer and AMSE Y14.47-2019 Working knowledge of Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) reuse in manufacturing and inspection Experience/knowledge of MBD interoperable formats such as 3DPDF, HTLM5, STEP, QIF, JT, etc. Experience/knowledge of PMI application across a variety of part commodities Possess a growth mindset with personal desire to learn and create solutions Strong ability to forward think when architecting solutions, embracing new technologies and process changes Strong communication skills and relating new concepts to others Ability to learn new technologies and identify applications to solve business challenges Experience working horizontally across functional organizations such as engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and information technology Ability to remotely collaborate with a team of experts based in various locations throughout the US Desired Qualifications: Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance Experience/knowledge of industry standards developed for, or supportive of MBD (QIF, MIL-STD-31000, DMSC) Advanced knowledge of GD&T and its application with respect to MBD, Preferred GDTP ASME Y14.5 Certification. Experience/knowledge of Siemens NX CAD version 19XX series to current release Experience/knowledge of Siemens NXOpen programming Experience/knowledge of MBD application in CAD systems other than NX: CREO, CATIA and Solidworks Experience/knowledge of MBD software landscape: CADIQ, Capvidia, Anark, BCTI, Elysium Working knowledge of product life-cycle management (PLM) workflows for how engineering technical data is consumed across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply-chain. Working knowledge of Siemens NX software license packages (FiberSIM, mechanical routing, PMI Advisor, Check-Mate) Experience with Lean & Agile practices Experience managing culture changes including adoption and resistance to new ways of working in a digital engineering environment We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary of $83,000 to $140,000, however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
