Descrizione del lavoro: GENERAL PURPOSE Reporting to the Global Innovation leader, the R&D Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical design solutions for seamers and other machines for Food and Beverage packaging. The candidate has the advanced ability to use state-of-the-art CAD and finite elements analysis tools to create mechanical designs, primarily for packaging machines. She/he will ensure product features with respect of budget cost, schedule, reliability and regulatory/safety goals. She/he will direct support personnel in all mechanical related activities throughout the product development cycle. She/he will enhance existing methodology (Packaging Platform R&D playbook ) and processes to ensure continuous improvement. RESPONSIBILITIES Designs and develops prototype hardware capable of meeting customer requirements and industry standards through the use of existing, modified, and/or new designs. Responsible for successful project completion by determining the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination issues. Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements. Provides technical support to the manufacturing floor as necessary to support product and assure specifications and engineering standards are being followed. Creates test plans for design suitability, verification and qualification testing. Monitors testing of product and analyze test data for engineering reports. Improves design, production and test procedures through determining the cause of test failures. Conducts failure analysis examinations (prototype and fielded product) and prepare FAR (Failure Analysis Reports) of findings. Supervise the manufacturing of prototype hardware as necessary. Coordinate and review activities of less senior engineers as necessary. Undertaking any other duties appropriate to your skill levels from time to time to meet the needs of the business. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design and development of packaging machinery Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstration of basic engineering analysis skills including calculation of loads and stress, tolerance stack-up Ability to read and develop engineering models and prints Proficiency in ERP driven processes Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to speak excellent Italian and English Ability to think and act logically (analytically), systematically and with a process-oriented and people-centric approach Decision making and problem solving skills and methods Creativity and initiative with follow through Planning and organizing Ability to periodically travel within Europe and international (USA) Drive for results with the ability to balance (needs / interests/demands) and work in alignment with the objectives of multiple stakeholders PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution 5 years of relevant working experience in design of Food and Beverage packaging equipment Familiarity/experience with machining and metal forming operations (in particular sheet metal bending) and part design Experience in a structured manufacturing environment Knowledge about LEAN Design and Manufacturing Principles Excellent time management and organizational skills THE COMPANY We’re Building a Better World.
