Highlights of the role: Telespazio is seeking space industry professionals to join the Moonlight team. Moonlight is ESA pioneer program to develop a world-first mission aimed to offer Lunar Communications and Navigation Services (LCNS) on the moon. LCNS services will be delivered though a constellation of satellites orbiting around the moon and they will support the future growth of lunar economy, from moon landers to human lunar exploration and colonization. Moonlight project is extremely challenging and it will cover all phases from market study and system design to launch, operations and service provision. It spans across all segment of the mission including satellite platforms, payloads, ground segment, launch and user terminals. Telespazio is leading a multi-national consortium of top-ranked space companies in order to deliver such complex mission together with the European Space Agency. As part of this professionals, Telespazio is looking for Communication Platform system engineer focus on performance and engineering aspects of the satellite platform. He/she shall monitor and ensure coherence at platform level in all project phases. Activities/Responsibilities • Lead the design, development and qualification of satellite platforms subsystems/equipment for integration into the Telecommunication satellite; • Managing the Telecommunication satellite subsystem and equipment reviews; • Participating in all major system reviews as the lead platform engineer representative of the Telespazio team; • Contributing to the maintenance of the project risk register; • Monitoring the progress and achievements of the project milestones; • Ensuring the coherence between the subsystem/equipment and the overall system; • Support to Telespazio Satellite System Specialist and E2E System Engineer for the analysis of end-to-end performances and during the pre-launch and In-Orbit test campaigns; • Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and verification activities; • Participation to the Launch campaign; Qualifications / Experience Master’s degree or comparable in Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications or Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent qualification. At least 5 years of professional experience as satellite platform engineer in the space industry. Essential Skills • Multi-disciplinary knowledge of satellite platform engineering in the telecommunication domain. • Excellent experience in all project phases (design, development and qualification) as satellite platform engineer in telecommunication domain. • Experience in working in complex space programmes up to launch and in-orbit testing, preferably in the telecommunication domain. • Knowledge of industrial cost and schedule aspects • Complex project risk management processes • Knowledge mission/spacecraft development, verification and procurement processes • Knowledge of space system development and Product Assurance standards • Fluency in spoken and written English Desirable Skills: • Experience as satellite platform engineer in Lunar or interplanetary missions. • Relevant experience and good knowledge of practically applying engineering standards (e.g. ECSS). • Direct experience of working with a commercial telecommunications industry or operator.
