Title: Director ofGiving Department: LHAAMCFoundation Reports To: Vice President, LHAAMC Foundation Cost Center/Job code : 45000-55001-000069 FLSA status: Exempt Position Objective The Director of Giving plays an integral role in attracting impactful philanthropic support for Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center (LHAAMC). Reporting to the Vice President of the LHAAMC Foundation, the Director of Giving will manage two full-time and two part-time giving officers, as well as serve as part of the Foundation’s senior leadership team. The Director will marry the art and science of major gift fundraising to take the LHAAMC Foundation’s successful donor-centered major gift program to the next level. The Director of Giving manages a comprehensive major, planned and corporate giving program, responsible for building the donor pipeline, cultivating and securing gifts to LHAAMC and stewarding long-term funding relationships and will be to the execution and success of a multi-year, 9-figure, comprehensive hospital campaign. The Director works collaboratively with the Director of Advancement Services and Manager of Special Giving on a metrics-based, donor-centered MOVES management program. Duties also include managing high-level volunteers within campaign and board committees and working on cultivation and stewardship events. Professional/Technical Competencies 1. Fundraising Knowledge Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising terms and strategies as it pertains to donors, staff, vendors and volunteers. In particular, demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major and transformational gifts. 2. Marketing Knowledge of marketing principles and strategies as they relate to fundraising and major gift procurement. 3. Ethical Practices Demonstrated ability to adhere to regulations and policies pertaining to donors, and maintaining a high level of moral and ethical standards with regard to donor rights, etc. Essential Functions Manages two full-time and two part-time giving officers Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of prospects and current donors with a focus on securing major and transformational gifts. Develops and implements written donor strategies and relationship record (using Salesforce) of all interactions. Leads Giving Team with a systemic, metrics-based approach in order to drive philanthropic support. Staffs the Donor Pipeline Committee of the LHAAMC Foundation Board of Directors and campaign advisory council in support of a multi-year comprehensive campaign. Manages a portfolio of clinicians to assist in securing major gifts through an emerging Clinician Engagement Program. Works closely with other Foundation staff members to manage comprehensive “moves management” program. Uses excellent writing skills to produce compelling and research-based gift proposals for major and transformational funding opportunities. Works closely with other Foundation staff members to execute grateful patient program, including clinician engagement and patient rounding Meets regularly with key LHAAMC administrative and clinical leaders to identify funding priorities and encourage identification of major donor prospects. Works closely with other Foundation staff to execute a strategic stewardship program including impact reports. Oversees Foundation Staff with development of all print and web-based supporting materials for planned giving program. Assists Foundation staff with cultivation and recognition events. Participates in professional networks to maintain current knowledge of standards and techniques. Functions as a key member of the development team and provides additional support as requested to ensure the success of the Foundation in its mission and goals. Knowledge/Experience Required Minimum Education: Master’s degree in related field. Required Minimum Experience: Five to seven years progressive fundraising experience. Healthcare experience preferred. Required License / Certifications: None Demonstrated experience in acquiring six and seven figure gifts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive attitude and team-oriented. Personal computer skills and experience with contact management and databases required. Salesforce experience preferred. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
