Financial Business Controller Milan, Italy Posted on 10/11/2023

DP World is currently in search of a Milan-based Financial Business Controller with a background experience in Freight Forwarding. This role will report into the Finance Director – Air, Ocean & Freight Forwarding, with the aim of strengthening our Finance & Controlling team, in Italy. The role will initially be responsible for the monthly reporting of the Freight Forwarding business unit, within Italy and will also involve playing a key role in the expansion of the division within this region. 

Key Accountabilities: 

• Preparation of the monthly business reports, for the individual business unit(s).
• Liaising closely with the Consolidation and Financial Accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting
• Preparation of detailed analysis & reporting on the variances to budget and forecasts
• Preparation of the monthly Business Unit KPI’s, with analysis of movements in performance
• Review the monthly performance with the Business Unit managers and preparation, monitoring of follow up / corrective action requirements to ensure optimal operational performance 
• Preparation of the annual budget and forecasts, for the individual Business Units
• Assisting with the year-end statutory reporting
• Assisting with the setting up of new business units (from a financial reporting requirement perspective) 
• Completion of other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Job Context 

The role of Business Controller, is a hybrid role, based in Home-Office and in our current location in Milan.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar.

EXPERIENCE 

• Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an operationally focused finance role.

Definite asset:

• Experience of SAP is desirable (not essential)
• Knowledge of IFRS & local GAAP reporting regulations is an advantage (not essential) 
• Previous experience of working in an audit role would be an advantage (not essential).

SKILLS 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively, in order to meet reporting deadlines
• Ability to communicate with a variety of people, with different regional backgrounds and roles
• Strong business acumen and the ability to see the “Big Picture”
• Flexibility and the willingness to learn and develop on the job 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English & Italian 
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools – a strong Excel proficiency is essential (knowledge of the BPC add-on would be an advantage).
