You will support our global teams in establishing an effective material compliance management system in Transformers to ensure compliance of current and future products and their constituent materials; including upcoming standards and regulations, environmental health and safety, sustainability, as well as product labeling requirements. Any changes in the regulatory environment considering manufacturing, shipping, registration with national authorities, and disposal/recycling obligations (with specific regards to circularity, as well as upcoming plastics regulations) will also be key components of this opportunity. You will work within a cross-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, supply chain management whilst collaborating with external suppliers and across the BUs of Hitachi Energy in building a comprehensive strategy in tracking evolving regulations and its execution thereof. In this role, you will be part of a global, cross-functional community of dynamic, and engaged professionals with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds. Your responsibilities: Act as the first point of contact for overarching compliance topics and coordinate action plans with cross functional teams in the transformers BU Monitor evolving regulatory landscape and communicate new requirements to concise action points across the portfolio including: design requirements, packaging and labelling, restrictions on substances and components, material testing and certification requirements, manufacturing and shipping, registration with national authorities, and disposal/recycling/reuse obligations Enhance compliance knowledge across the BU to introduce best practices such as procuring and implementing risk and compliance software/tools Coordinate the product material compliance checklist as it pertains to product development Respond to product compliance enquiries from internal and external stakeholders Conduct material compliance assessments across the BU, including reporting upon any hazardous and/or restricted substances Strategically identify possible alternative materials with improved EHS risks in comparison to existing materials and chemicals used in processing and manufacturing Conduct training sessions for employees on material compliance topics Provide expert product regulatory guidance to global project teams in R&D, business strategy, supply chain, and others who have an impact on or are subject to implementing the sustainability program. Actively participate in transformers related external materials and sustainability standardization committees and industrial initiatives. Support on ESG reporting and commitments as required. To be considered for this role, we’re looking for someone with: Min. 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance Strong knowledge of global product material compliance regulations and the affiliated methodologies and tools capable for successfully tracking evolving legislations University degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering, law, or a related field. Strong general quantitative and qualitative analytical and problem-solving skills. A strong knowledge of global environmental regulations, including REACH, RoHS, TSCA Familiarity with materials declarations and product labeling requirements Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex information in clear, understandable ways to internal and external audiences. Ability to work closely with large and complex remote teams and in a multi-country & -cultural environment. Excellent project management skills with demonstrated capacity to take initiative, structure and prioritize own work, works effectively, independently and deliver on committed schedule. Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English, other European languages are a plus.
