Currently, the ION R&D Planning tools group is looking for a Software Development engineer in test to work on the testing and test automation of a Web Application used to define and deploy Optical Networks. This role requires someone who is passionate about testing and well-crafted automation, with the goal of building, improving, and maintaining a reliable and easy to use test infrastructure. To be successful in the role proficiency in python and Linux environments are needed. What you will learn and contribute to Are you passionate about solving problems? As part of our team, you will: Work on the Continuous Integration (Gitlab, Jenkins, AWS, VMware) to identify areas of improvement including test execution performance, reliability and cost. Work on the test infrastructure to resolve issues, to extend its capabilities and to make testing easier for the whole team – Report frequently and concisely (daily stand-up meetings) about the status of the assigned tasks. Create and maintain automated test suites (Python) including requirement analysis, test planning, development and execution. Interact daily with a development team spread across three time-zones (Italy / US / India) to gather the necessary information to solve issues and move the assigned tasks forward. Your skills and experience You have: A M.S. in computer science, optics, physics, or electrical engineering. Proficiency with Python (A personal project to look at or contribution to any open source one would be ideal) Experience in working with version control systems (Git / Feature Branches / Merge requests) Experience in working with Linux in bash and writing simple bash scripts Some experience in working with Docker / Containers Experience in one or more of the following packages: Ansible, REST, Requests, Parallel/Multi-thread operations – Passion for testing and quality in general, including a high attention to details. Fluent in English with good communication skills.
