Job Purpose How will this job contribute to the Global Clinical Operation success? The Strategy & Operations Manager is accountable for the implementation and execution of strategy, communication, and change management in the Study & Site Operations organization. They are responsible for ensuring that key priorities and function deliverables are met. Additionally, they work to generate business insights to drive productivity and provide strategic input for the Country S&O Head and the country Leadership Team. Accountabilities What are the key deliverables and accountabilities of the role? • Drives translation, implementation, and execution of the global/hub strategic plan in the country. • Provides country feedback and insights to the Global/Hub Head S&O community and ensures country needs are incorporated into the global/hub strategy as needed • Identifies country-specific opportunities, challenges, and risks, supports mitigation with regards to systems and processes • Responsible for local implementation of global systems and processes; Subject Matter Expert role for systems and processes in the country (including continuous feedback sharing and optimization regarding harmonization, simplification, performance, and efficiency) • Prepares and analyzes country-specific metrics and business insights and communicates them to the Country S&O Head, LT, and other internal and external stakeholders • Drives overall country data quality mindset and initiatives (e.g., for Novartis systems implementations and improvements.) • Supports innovation and change management processes, identifies strategic solutions to improve clinical study execution • Supports implementation of country-specific communication strategy in line with global/hub strategy • Develops country-specific communication, transformation and change management plans as needed • Collects, compiles, and communicates feedback from/to internal and external stakeholders • Drives implementation of information management and communication standards and their further development and optimization • Supports global/hub information and transformation initiatives, change management and Study and Site Operation (SSO) evolution incl. culture and mindset change • Analyzes external benchmarking, trends, and regulations in the country. • Provides country-specific input to be considered in the global/hub SSO strategy Activities & Interfaces How does this role operate within, interact with, and impact the organization? • Partners with Country Portfolio organization to ensure resource planning and tracking is accurate and clearly communicated to CountryHead. • Supports Study Start up Unit and Field Monitoring organizations in resource planning and tracking and drives key cross functional initiatives to support full country operational excellence. Key Performance Indicators How will we measure success in this role? 1. Timely, quality, and accurate analysis and reporting of country metrics, resource, workload, and portfolio performance 2. Country-specific input in global/hub strategy, 3. Role Requirements Ideal Background What are the necessary skills and capabilities to fulfill this role? Education: (minimum/desirable) Languages: • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences; Advanced Degree in scientific or business degree is preferred • Fluent in both written and spoken English • Country language is of advantage Experience/Professional requirement: • Minimum 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical development, preferably in clinical research is preferred • Demonstrated thorough change agile mind-set • Experienced in Operations and Strategy of pharmaceutical development processes and in technical approaches is preferred • Experience in performance management and productivity projects preferred (incl. application of quantitative approaches to re-designing processes, improving productivity and/or improving efficiency) • Thorough understanding of the international and national aspects of drug development process, incl. international standards (Good Clinical Practice/International Council of Harmonization), health authorities (Food and Drug Administration /European Medical Agency), local/National Health Authorities regulations and Novartis standards • Good strategic thinking skills, ability to manage multiple projects, flexibility to quickly adapt priorities according to business and strategic needs • Demonstrated experience in matrix organizations and ability to influence without authority • Strong communication, presentation, and networking skills Why Novartis? 766 million lives were touched by Novartis medicines in 2021, and while we’re proud of this, we know there is so much more we could do to help improve and extend people’s lives.
